The geography of these islands often baffled me.
It takes nearly two hours to travel from one of the northernmost keys to the southernmost point of the entire united states.
Nothing but islands and water and large stretches of engineered asphalt.
As a resort destination, we were wined and dined in Islamorada.
We were intrigued and surprised by the culture of Key West.
Conch fritters are really just island hushpuppies but real key lime pie…that has no replacement.
Ernest Hemingway is renowned and yet we couldn’t quite get past his poor character choices.
Still, I left fawning over his extra-toed cats.
(Oh, and sometimes you find banana bread in your basket at a local seafood spot and lose sleep over its strangeness)
